Abuse Intervention Program (AIP)

formerly known as the Batterers Intervention Program (BIP)-is an Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence (ICADV) certified program that adheres to state standards for abuse intervention. Pivotal Turning Point's AIP is facilitated Byan ICADV-certified facilitator trained in evidence-based approaches that emphasize accountability, equality, and behavioral change.

The program is grounded in the Duluth Model, which focuses on understanding and transforming the misuse of power and control within relationships. Through structured weekly sessions, participants examine belief systems and learned behaviors that contribute to patterns of coercion, manipulation, and abuse. The curriculum integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques to help individuals recognize distorted thought patterns, develop emotional regulation skills, and replace harmful behaviors with healthy, respectful alternatives.

Both men's and women's groups are offered, providing safe and supportive environments for participants to engage in open reflection, guided discussion, and skill-building. Participants work through the Power and Control Wheel and Equality Wheel, learning to identify and practice nonviolent relationship dynamics based on mutual respect, communication, and empathy.

Each session promotes personal accountability, empathy development, and self-awareness, guiding individuals toward genuine behavioral transformation. The ultimate goal of the program is to empower participants to establish and maintain healthy, equitable, and nonviolent relationships, fostering safety and respect within families and the broader community.
